A MIDDLE GRADE NOVEL
By Luci Brockway Tumas
A cockatoo, a crocodile, and a mysterious disappearance lead to a spine-tingling adventure Brock will never forget.
After a frustrating and boring start to his day, twelve-year-old Brock has no idea of the dangerous adventures that await him in a Papua New Guinea jungle…
A brush with a hungry crocodile, a kerosene fire, and getting lost alone in the jungle–at night–are the least of Brock’s worries when he’s captured by rival hunters.
With the help of his friends, Brock and his missionary family work hard not only to bring peace to the opposing groups, but to spread the love of Jesus and translate God’s Word. Will they succeed, or are pride and fear too strong to overcome?

MIDDLE GRADE AUTHOR
Luci’s passion for cross-cultural service has been the focus of her life-long writing career.
When her two kids were young, Luci and her husband relocated their family from a Chicago suburb to Papua New Guinea. That south Pacific island nation became their home for 15 years until their son and daughter headed for college. Now back in the US, Luci and John are still part of the mission organization, and now live in Colorado.
They are now the proud grandparents of 5 grandkids. They cherish the rare times they can all be together—with their parents too—of course.
Besides writing real-life stories for decades, Luci has long wanted to create real-life novels about missionary kids. Inspired by her kids’ gratefulness for being raised in a cross-cultural environment, her first novel depicts adventures set in Papua New Guinea.
Her dream is now a reality. Anaiah Press is the publisher her her first Middle Grade (ages 9 – 12) novel.
This website is her forum to tell what she has learned, and is still learning about the many aspects of living cross-culturally. She will also add more exciting facts about the unique birds and animals living in Papua New Guinea.
“Twenty-five percent of the world’s people are left out because of language related barriers.
No one should be kept from thriving because of the languages they speak or sign.”
