About Luci Tumas

middle grade author

My Story

Luci’s passion for cross-cultural service is the focus of her life-long writing career.

Luci and her husband, John, and their two young children relocated from a Chicago suburb to Papua New Guinea. That south Pacific island nation became their home for 15 years until their son and daughter headed for college.

Now back in the US, Luci and John are still part of the mission organization. They are now the  proud grandparents of 5 grandkids. They cherish the rare times they can all be together, with their parents too of course.

Besides writing true stories for decades, Luci has long wanted to create true to life novels about missionary kids. Her dream is now a reality. In 2021 she signed a contract with Anaiah Press to publish her first Middle Grade novel (ages 9 – 12).

This website is her forum to tell what she has learned, and is still learning, about the many aspects of novel writing and working with a professional editor. She’ll be sharing her journey as she becomes a published novelist.
